Plenty of news to report this month! 

A Return to the Stage
First of all, booking has been open for a while for 'Three Days In The Country' which runs from 21st July for a limited period at The National Theatre (Lyttleon), an adaptation from the Russian play 'A Month in the Country' by  Ivan Turgenev . It is not yet known which character John will play.  There are still some tickets available:

Magic Alex play Camden Barfly

In their first live gig for at least ten years, Magic Alex turned in a well-attended performance at the Barfly on 25th June. Rumour has it (from the band's Facebook Page!) that more gigs will follow, including north of London, dates/venues TBC.  Here are a few images (if you were there and took pictures -or video footage- and would like to share them, please email admin@johnsimmonline.com , with the heading 'Magic Alex Barfly', thank you!  There are also two short video excerpts on our Vimeo site:  JSO on vimeo   
'The Locksmith' to be released on DVD in October!

Excellent news - one of John's early dramas, in which he played opposite the late Warren Clarke, is due to be released on DVD.  If you haven't seen this early example of John's work, you are in for a treat!  John plays a young drug addict and thief.  Available for pre-order on Amazon

9th June 2014:
Filming wraps on 'Intruders' Series One 
According to Director Daniel Stamm's twitter feed , filming wrapped on 'Intruders' Series One on 8th June.  John Simm wasn't at the wrap party - he finished filming a week earlier and is now back in Derbyshire for his second stint on 'The Village' Series 2. 


'Intruders' is set to air in August in the USA, while tweets from author Michael  Marshall Smith  seem to suggest that it will air on BBC2 mid-September.

'Prey'  - new crime drama for ITV

Filming completed in January 2014 for  a new three-part drama starring John Simm .  From the pen of writer Chris Lunt,  produced by Red Production company ( 'Exile')   and directed by Nick Murphy, ( 'Occupation', 'The Awakening', 'Blood' and 'Prey'.)  'Prey'  tells the story of well-liked Detective Constable Marcus Farrow (John Simm) who is found at the scene of a brutal crime and wrongly accused and arrested.  He escapes from custody and must try to prove his innocence before he is apprehended by his colleagues.  Daniel Pemberton provides the soundtrack.   Photography by Ben Blackall .


'Prey' premiered on Monday, 28th April 2014, as part of ITV's spring package, to rave reviews.  Following transmission, Peter Fincham, Director of ITV programmes, told The Radio Times that he would like to commission a second series.  Watch this space, or follow us on  Twitter  for more news ...

Viewer Ratings for episode one of 'The Village' 
Episode One  was a clear ratings winner with 6.35m, a slightly more than 25% share and beating 'Foyles War'  (5.5m).   Series two begins production in March 2014.  John will reprise his role as John Middleton,  father of main character Bert Middleton.  

'The Village' to air commencing Sunday 31st March on BBC1, 9pm

28th January 2013:

Filming for 'Mad Dogs' series 4 under way...
Filming began on the two-part finale of  Sky1's 'Mad Dogs' at the end of January, with the cast (John Simm, Philip Glenister, Marc Warren and Max Beesley) all flying out to Cape Town, South Africa.  News from the location has been thin on the ground, with John  tweeting a pool-side image with the tag "Location, location, location..." and Max  commenting more recently that it was "looking good so far!" 


'Mad Dogs' series 3 is due to air on Sky1 in April, though no exact date has yet been given.

April 24th 2012 - BAFTA nomination for 'Exile'


John Simm has been nominated in the Leading Actor category for his role as journalist Tom Ronstadt in BBC drama 'Exile'   http://www.bafta.org/television/awards/   The award ceremony will take place at London's South Bank on Sunday May 27th 2012.

Update:
To the regret of many, John did not win in his category; the award went to his friend Dominic West (with whom John appeared in 'The Devil's Whore' in 2008)  for his role as Fred West in 'Appropriate Adult'.  John congratulated Dominic on his win the following day on his Twitter feed.
